Well illness in the family has kept me out of here. However, I'm delighted to say that 12 weeks down the line with the nutritionist, my ears - which have leaked for around 7 years - stopped leaking. Bouts of deafness also stopped. I still have other symptoms but I'm looking forward to what else can be achieved. A recent hair test showed I am no longer considered pre - diabetic; my liver is showing no signs of being under pressure. I am actually aware that my detoxing capacity has improved. Gave up on the coconut oil as I couldn't take it after a bout of mild food poisoning but I'm doing well with the fermented products.

The nutritionist I'm seeing feels things are progressing fine. We discussed the possibility of removing some metals just now and its been decided to hold off till after the summer, build my system up and support the liver and take it from there as I have previously found I couldn't tolerate any of the products recommended for metal removal. I have started taking coconut oil - originally for inflammation in my mouth which it cleared, but its helpful for those who have aluminum phosphide poisoning; While this may be different to the aluminum I am trying to get rid of, I feel it may only help. Amongst other things it's also good for regulating the body functions overall if used daily.
I attended a fermenting workshop with Faith Canter last night and didn't realize the importance of digestive health on overall well-being and recovery from ailments. Overall things continue to go well. I attended a course with Carol Hannum last year who developed an intuitive healing system based on Dr Hulda Clark's. In truth I used to raise my eyebrows when I came across Dr Clark's cleanses, however, having found myself toxic I now know better. She has written books which I'll add to resources. I also felt I only had to look at my hubby to know he was toxic and he agreed to a syncrometer test based on Clark therapy as it had least impact on his time than other things he could consider. I decided to get a shorter test done as I thought it may be a guideline to the metals left. Unfortunately I would have needed to get the same test as Ian but it did highlight that Arsenic was a problem for me at present overall and fortunately that my detox pathways are now working well.
Ian has tested positive for many metals, solvents and suggested parasites ( which apparently like to stay in a toxic body.) His detox pathways are not so good either. So he will be joining me in supporting his liver and considering what to do about the rest. He also benefits as I am now starting to look at detoxing our environment and recommend Faith Canter's book Living A Life Less Toxic., I've started recycling the glass jars from food products I've purchased rather than use plastic containers to store food and wish I'd thought of this. So currently feeling very pleased with how things are going. I saw a new nutritional therapist last week and my faith has been restored. Apparently I should never have been given glutathione. They are taught that it should never be given to anyone who has oxidative stress, which I think could be picked up from the intake assessment form, but I actually had a test done with the other practitioner that showed the stress my body was under. Again no benefit in a rigid outlook! I also think I was put on the Paleo diet - although not named as such - and it may be fine in health, but other tests highlighted in my current state I'm needed more. A little bit of advice I've gained on hindsight - if the practitioner says " this is the diet some do well on it others not so good" they're not looking at you as an individual and you should find someone else.
As for the present. New dietary guidelines are great, No great restrictions as such, overall advice and plenty to choose from. We are doing the slow and steady approach. Helping the liver , building up health , natural detox approach and we'll see if chelation should be considered much further down the line. I'm feeling very well, no symptoms of metals. I'm tolerating sulphur foods and a teaspoon of chilantro pesto in the morning. Epson salt baths or saunas and gentle exercise - yoga or walking. Detoxing teas, which I do feel are causing some elimination through my pores and foods and herbs to support the liver. The only supplements I'm on are for adrenal and thyroid support for 30 days meantime. Can't complain at the moment and if this keeps up I'll be more able to give some attention to detoxing my environment. Well I can't believe I'm writing this but its no wonder complimentary therapies sometimes get dissed. I never got advice on the program, it would appear I have been dumped as no contact received or emails answered. One of the difficulties in being too rigid in your thinking when assisting heavy metal detox. The practitioner in question was not a fan of Andrew Cutler's work and obviously couldn't see past her own preference - so I don't fit the mold with her medicine so there's nowhere else to go . I sourced information on supporting the liver with nutrition and have started following some of these principles. I'm seeing another nutritionist in May who is looking forward to working with me and have started detox baths, looking into saunas and started cilantro pesto from today as I'm managing to eat sulphur foods with no ill effects. If the cilantro goes well I may consider increasing it and only using this for chelation meantime.
Although I had the difficulties with chelation, Andrew Cutler does advise on the need for supplements ,liver support and where possible to do it under guidance. Yet again I turned to his work after this setback, and he advises aluminum should not be chelated but should be allowed to leave the body naturally. That alone may be the reason I experienced the problems with glutathione, which by the way Mr Cutler advises should not be used for heavy metal removal. Well haven't updated for a while as my mum has been very ill. I had started what was to be the medicine to remove metals by December and almost immediately started to have symptoms although I didn't realize it at that point. Over the weeks I did know there was something going on but again wasn't certain, but I considered that too many metals were being mobilized. I then started to get a bit forgetful again and considered the symptoms I'd had - chest pain, dizziness, marked eczema, one bout of joint pain and by this point a little memory interruption and felt I was back at square one. Some eyebrow hair had also fallen out also and of course that was the reason I had stopped the chelation.
The benefit this time is I'm doing this under the guidance of a practitioner and I was advised to stop the medication except IMD to remove mercury from the gut and it was a minute dose. I did improve although I definitely felt fatigue which was new for me. I was at this point thinking it was a mixture of the medication and thiol foods due to the dietary changes, however, I had blood, urine and hair analysis for mercury and the results showed that I had some mineral deficiencies. This apparently happens as the metals go into the cells and these deficiencies affect the ability to detox so you can't get rid of what is mobilized rather than an intolerance of thiol foods. My blood mercury levels are now low which is great considering they should be with amalgam removal and 18 months FCT/chelation. Hair analysis showed Aluminum - which would have been affecting my memory, and Arsenic which apparently causes hair to fall out so I take it that is why I'm losing eyebrow hair. I'm awaiting advice on dietary changes and the program to be followed for the time being. Well this has been some journey. I've now started the nutritional medicine approach to clearing the heavy metals. Last month started with building up my general health which has taken a battering with the metals and dental work that went wrong. Obviously there are some changes given but I haven't found them difficult and the detox symptoms have mainly been eczema and I now think a little joint pain. I feel a lot calmer and I can't say if that is due to the thorough cleansing my liver is getting or because I am seeing someone who is knowledgeable in how to proceed with this.
It was explained to me that chelation relies mainly on the kidneys for excretion and if the load is great the kidneys can't cope with it all causing the body to give some symptom due to that. Happy to say my eyebrow, which started falling out with the chelation, has started to grow back in. Bloods showed I am not clinical hypothyroid, but the thyroid is sub clinical hypothyroid which will be looked at. Believe it or not thyroid results also showed that the selenium I was taking - on advice from a medical professional - has affected one of the thyroid levels and so I am currently to avoid all sources of selenium. What can I say ? This is the problem with having to discover routes for removing metals yourself instead of this problem being highlighted in the public domain. The nutritional approach with a practitioner who has a protocol other than chelation would probabaly have been Well sadly I have had to stop chelation despite the fact that I felt it was going very well. The reason for this is a little head hair and obvious eyebrow hair is falling out possibly due to the effects chelating metals has on the thyroid gland. I am now planning to see a Naturapath next week
Managed a few rounds with 25 mg DMSA and 12.5mg of ALA. Have felt very well and stress does not seem to be a problem. I will continue for a bit and will then consider increasing the ALA as both meds should not be increased at the same time. As the ALA is the only one that crosses the blood brain barrier and I had dementia symptoms I feel it is more important I increase that. Again to anyone finding themselves in this position I would now advise you follow Andrew Cutler's chelation protocol as outlined in the Living Network site. I wish I had known chelation could be this symptom free as I would most definitely have started it sooner.
Started Andrew Cutler's chelation protocol at 12.5 mg Dmsa and have been managing fine. Very slight symptoms that were easy to cope with. I have now managed to get the dose up to 25mg and find I have to be a little more careful in following all the guidelines ( no wine on chelation days) and I have started a few supplements that I'm hoping will support the thyroid gland as the detox continues as I feel that may be needed. Very pleased that it has gone so well. I will stay with this dose of Dmsa for a few more rounds before attempting to add ALA and this protocol certainly seems to be working for me so far.
