Mercury in the Body
Through this experience I have discovered that mercury leaks from amalgam fillings each time you eat on one. I also learned that if a dissimilar metal, for example a crown or implant, is placed adjacent to an amalgam filled tooth it may cause a battery effect, causing the amalgam to dissolve in places. Recovery requires the complete removal of amalgam and other sources of exposure. Fish was stated as a source of exposure, however, this is really of little concern. The average is 2mcg of mercury from food, 1.5 being methlymercury from seafood. As it happens I ate very little fish once I got married as my hubby performed an operation on it due to a fear of bones. Then I was vegetarian for 10 years and did not eat it at all. However, I now avoid tuna as it's previously been reported to contain mercury and otherwise I have read that the larger fish maybe should be avoided if you have concerns.
Symptoms will come and go and not necessarily have any great impact on a person's ability to function and be productive in life which may cloud the picture. If I hadn't stumbled across the information in Vianna Stibal's book I would never have looked into this. It was the tinnitus that made me consider this and at that point I was well, felt well, and was working well in my business. I only started to feel ill after I mobilized the mercury, first with the Kelmer test and then with a high intake of sulphur foods. This now appears to be due to the level of toxicity in my body, but isn't it frightening that I could be poisoned to that degree and not even know it.
Toxicity occurs by a gradual accumulation and in lower levels you may dismiss possible symptoms. The more toxic a person becomes the more consistent symptoms may be, and symptoms will be different for each individual as they will experience what their own physiology makes them prone to. Symptoms may also have already been given another diagnosis as doctors do not know to consider mercury toxicity as a possible cause, and as mentioned before, if they consider it blood and urine tests are likely to be reported as normal.
It doesn't end by simply having amalgam fillings removed if you have already done this. Mercury accumulates and stays in the organs and needs assistance to be removed. The books and websites in the resource page or drop down menu give advice on this. Lyn Rennick's website is one you should visit if you feel you could be mercury toxic as it is very informative and also includes advice from Dr Hal Huggins. I found Andrew Cutler's book a valuable resource and one I frequently returned to. The living network site which I got from Gary who also has amalgam illness is based on Andrew Hall Cutler's work.
Safe removal is very important. It could be very detrimental to a person's health if they already have a chronic mercury load in their system and absorb too much through regular dentistry. So please read the resources listed if you are having to consider this further.
